A drive system to automate the recovery of the waste trim
A customer in America produces plastic film, they required a drive system to automate the recovery of the waste trim to be fed back into the calendar to reduce waste and reduce the labour required to run the machine.
A system was developed using 2 micromaster 400 drives and an S7-1200 plc to complete this, each drive section had a set of solenoid activated nip rolls and dancer feedback loop to control tension with the option of a ratio speed pot control.
This stand alone panel was integrated into the existing process line and had independent guarding zones.
This was a basic drive system with huge customer benefits which paid for itself in a matter of months.
